New Plants for 2017

This portion of the site provides a summary and description of plants introduced for the first time to the Bohn's Farm lineup for the current year.

Introduction of new plants to our already extensive lineup is the result of:

  • customer suggestions
  • recommendations from our diverse team of young plant producers
  • pant awareness resulting from custom production for our landscape professional customer
  • observations noted during our travels to professional conferences, botanical and educational institutions.

Iris 'Orange Harvest'

Iris, Tall Bearded
Iris 'Orange Harvest'

Iris 'Willamette Mist'

Iris, Tall Bearded
The billowing ruffled flowers of this Iris seem to roll in like Pacific clouds on a foggy day. Most remarkable though is how the upper petals of these blossoms are colored a distinctly deeper shade of wisteria blue than the falls--making a delightful "reverse amoena" pattern. This eye catching child of Jazz Me Blue and Blue Crusader has a very thick 3/4" stem and yields 6-8 buds per stalk.
Iris 'Willamette Mist'

Iris Germanica 'Cherry Blossom Song'

Iris, Bearded
A heavy bloomer, Cherry Blossom Song produces 7-9 buds per stem and delights the midseason garden with unique, bi-colored blooms. Like other Bearded Irises, this variety is extremely easy-to-grow and deer resistant.
Iris Germanica 'Cherry Blossom Song'

Iris Germanica 'Footloose'

Iris, Bearded
One of the first tall bearded irises to bloom, and blooms well past mid-spring. High bud count of 8-10 buds on strong stems that can withstand inclement weather.
Iris Germanica 'Footloose'

Iris Germanica 'Jurassic Park'

Iris, Bearded
Dramatic Colour Contrast on Huge Blooms! An outstanding iris that has won multiple awards, including the American Iris Society's Wister and President's Cup! Broad, ruffled form and large, well-spaced blooms are blessed with great substance so they keep their good looks a long time in the garden and as cut flowers. Blooms on 34-36" stems in mid spring followed by a second round of blooms in late summer to early fall.
Iris Germanica 'Jurassic Park'

Iris Germanica 'Mary Frances'

Iris, Bearded
Multiple award winner, including the most prestigious award of the American Iris Society, the Dykes Medal in 1979. Fragrant and lovely blue-orchid flowers delicately splashed with pristine white on their falls. Very floriferous, with 6-9 buds per stem and sometimes more!
Iris Germanica 'Mary Frances'
