New Plants for 2017

This portion of the site provides a summary and description of plants introduced for the first time to the Bohn's Farm lineup for the current year. 

Introduction of new plants to our already extensive lineup is the result of:

  • customer suggestions
  • recommendations from our diverse team of young plant producers
  • pant awareness resulting from custom production for our landscape professional customer
  • observations noted during our travels to professional conferences, botanical and educational institutions.

Leucanthemum 'Angel Daisy'

Daisy, Shasta
A long-blooming dwarf Shasta Daisy with double anemone-type flowers. The yellow centers transition to white with maturity. The flowers appear late spring to early summer but will continue to flower throughout the season when regularly deadheaded. The lightly fragrant flowers will attract butterflies.

Leucanthemum 'White Mountain' creates a great landscape plant and stays compact in mixed containers and in the garden. The flowerheads are lightly fragrant and attracts bees and butterflies. The blooms will continue flowering with greater reliability if they are regularly deadheaded. Leucanthemum perform best in full sun and fertile soil with good drainage.

Leucanthemum Superbum 'Spoonful of Sugar'

Daisy, Shasta
The first thing you’ll notice about this cute Shasta Daisy is the enormous flower size. The second thing you’ll notice is its incredibly compact, dome-like habit, with flowers produced almost all the way to the ground. 4.5in, creamy white flowers have two rows of very long petals. Flowers are held tight and compact against the attractive, dark green foliage, with a second wave of flowers following the initial wave. Growers will appreciate that ‘Spoonful of Sugar’ is a free-flowering variety.

Compact and reliable shasta daisy which blooms late spring to early fall. Excellent in the front of the border, highly tolerant of urban environments.

Liriope muscari 'Evergreen Giant'

Lily Turf
Spikes of deep purple flowers rise above the arching, dark green, grasslike foliage followed by black berries. A superb edging or border plant for partially shaded areas. Tolerates drier conditions when established. Evergreen.
