Brunnera macrophylla 'Green Gold'

Plant Type: Perennial

‘Green Gold’ Brunnera emerges in spring with brilliant chartreuse yellow foliage that absolutely glows in the shade garden. Sprays of tiny baby blue, forget-me-not type flowers float above the radiant foliage in mid to late spring.

As the summer sets in, the leaves grow more broadly heart-shaped and turn green, remaining that way for the rest of the season.

Consider replacing the standard green Brunnera macrophylla for this more colorful variety that offers a bit of bling in spring.

Brunneras are classic perennials that are treasured for their shade tolerance and lovely blooms. They make a fantastic groundcover, though the variegated forms may be slower to spread than the species. Try growing them in containers too so they will be close at hand when you want to snip a few blooms for a spring bouquet.
