This medium sized hosta is revered by the breeder for its glowing yellow foliage that keeps its color all season long. Unlike many yellow hostas which either start out green in spring or turn green in summer, this one retains its yellow foliage from start to finish.
In the springtime, it has thick, wedge-shaped, bright yellow leaves with lightly wavy margins, white backs, and petioles that are flecked with red spots at the base. As the season progresses, the yellow color mellows a bit but it remains distinctly yellow all season.
Chartreuse scapes carry pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers on 19" scapes in late summer.
Plant this hosta in part shade to draw out its yellow coloring.
Hostas are exceedingly popular perennials in today's gardens due to their versatility in the landscape. Their subtle colors, tall flower scapes, and broad, coarse leaves fill a niche in garden designs that few other plants can achieve. Their large leaves provide excellent coverage for dying bulb foliage. Hostas also grow well in city environments where the air may be polluted by car exhaust, etc.
