Large single flowers measure 3-3½ inches across. Since it is from seed, each flower is a little different, all have a light background speckled with bold shades of maroon, purple, and red. The effect is quite striking and the colors hold up well in the garden. A vigorous grower.
Group or mass under trees and woodland gardens where flowers can be viewed in early spring.
Remove tattered winter foliage in early spring. Prefers rich, moist, well drained soils and wind protection.
